A Panel titled “Childhood Leukemia and the Importance of Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Donation in Treatment” was held at EUL

In collaboration with the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the European University of Lefke (EUL) and the Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation for Children with Leukemia and Cancer, a panel titled “Childhood Leukemia and the Importance of Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Donation in Treatment” was organized.

At the panel, Suzan Gürel, Deputy Coordinator of the Foundation, delivered an informative and educational presentation, contributing to participants’ awareness of the topic. In her speech, Gürel first shared general information about cancer diseases, and then provided detailed insights into leukemia with a particular focus on childhood leukemia.
In the continuation of her presentation, Gürel outlined the founding purpose of the Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation for Children with Leukemia and Cancer, its areas of activity, and the support it provides to children with leukemia. Emphasizing the vital role of bone marrow and stem cell donation in the treatment process, she underlined that such donations can offer hope and a chance at life for many patients.
The panel, which was held with strong student participation, attracted significant interest due to the sensitivity of the topic and its social importance. The program, which contributed to increasing awareness and social responsibility, concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Suzan Gürel by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Güler, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at EUL.
