QUALITY ASSURANCE IN EUL

European University of Lefke is committed to providing high-quality education, research, and service to its students and the wider community. The quality assurance policies are established to ensure that all academic and administrative functions of EUL meet the highest standards of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. These policies provide a framework for maintaining and enhancing the quality of our programs, services, and overall institutional effectiveness. They are designed to foster a culture of quality, promote transparency, and ensure that the University’s activities align with its mission and strategic goals.

QUALITY ASSURANCE FRAMEWORK

The Quality Assurance Framework in EUL is guided by the following core principles: integrity, transparency, inclusivity, evidence-based practice, continuous improvement and strategic alignment and has 6 procedures:

  1. Governance :

Quality assurance is overseen by the Quality Assurance Committee, which reports to the university’s Rectorate. The Quality Assurance Committee coordinates implementation supports units in meeting standards, and monitors compliance. Academic and administrative units are responsible for local Quality Assurance activities, supported by designated Quality Support Unit.

  1. Academic Integrity:

EUL promotes a culture of academic honesty and ethical scholarship. All students and staff are expected to adhere to principles of integrity in teaching, learning, research, and assessment. Violations such as plagiarism, cheating, and data fabrication are subject to disciplinary action under the EUL Bylaws for Academic Personnel Disciplinary Action.

  1. Continuous Enhancement

EUL promotes a culture of academic honesty and ethical scholarship. All students and staff are expected to adhere to principles of integrity in teaching, learning, research, and assessment. Violations such as plagiarism, cheating, and data fabrication are subject to disciplinary action under the Academic Integrity Policy.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder input is central to quality assurance. EUL engages students, staff, alumni, employers, professional bodies, and community partners through surveys, consultations, advisory boards, and collaborative initiatives. Their perspectives shape policy development, program review, and strategic planning.

  1. Monitoring and Review

Monitoring and review are conducted through regular audits, performance evaluations, and data analysis. Academic programs undergo periodic review, while services and policies are assessed for effectiveness and relevance. Findings are documented in annual QA reports and used to inform decision-making and resource allocation.

  1. Strategic Alignment

All Quality Assurance activities are aligned with EUL’s strategic plan. Program development, policy implementation, and institutional initiatives are evaluated for their contribution to strategic priorities, national benchmarks, and global standards. This ensures coherence, impact, and long-term sustainability.

Quality Assurance Committee

Quality Assurance Committee make recommendations for the development and updating Quality Policies and Procedures of the university to improve quality, and foster the quality culture and quality assessment in EUL.

The terms of reference of the Quality Assurance Committee are to:

  1. make recommendations for the development and updating of the Quality Bylaws and guidelines of EUL to foster its quality culture and support the implementation of the vision and strategy of the University,
  2. identify quality indicators to monitor the implementation of the strategy and the fulfilment of the vision of EUL,
  3. access the necessary information to enable the Committee’s oversight and monitoring functions,
  4. undertake the necessary research on ways of improving the implementation and fulfilment of the said strategy and policy respectively,
  5. provide feedback for improvement to staff and entities, including training, and to recommend proposals for improvement to Senate,
  6. undertake and monitor the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes and procedures within the University, including the external component of the IQA, and
  7. prepare for and coordinate External Quality Assurance (EQA) procedures of the University, as an integral part of its quality culture. It also supports to implement vision and strategy to the university. QAC provides feedback for improvement of staff and entities, including trainings.
