“Organization and Career on Social Service Occupation” conference was held at EUL
“Organization and Career on Social Service Occupation” , was held by the European University of Lefke (EUL), Social Services Department of Faculty of Health Sciences. Turkish Association of Social Workers Chairman and Social Worker Specialist, Murat Altuğgil participated as a speaker in the conference, which was conducted at the EUL Rauf Raif Denktaş Education Complex Conference Hall.
It should be treated in accordance with the universal code of ethics
Altuğgil, in his presentation in the conference, laid stress on the fact that individuals in each occupational group needs to act in accordance with the universal code of ethics without discriminating any religion, language, race and thought by adhering professional oaths they have while working.
Poverty is the most important social problem
Altuğgil, who stated that the poverty is the most significant social problem, depicted that around 22 million people in the general population in Turkey are under “poverty” limit whereas one and a half million citizens are under “hunger” limit. Altuğgil, set forth that families having the necessary income, good and adequate nutrition, health, which will meet the needs of them, getting and using the acquisition of education and social services rights freely are the most natural and constitutional rights to live decently.
Finally, Altuğgil expressed that contemporary understanding of the social state should be; as an understanding of state which is eligible to give hand to whom in need of economic, social, and psychological support, support the needy, stake a claim on whom living in difficult conditions, who suffered abuse and neglect, and the citizens who need special attention and support, by knowing that these duties and speaking on behalf of citizens are missions of own.
