Seminar and workshop on ‘Diction and Effective Speech’ jointly organized by European University of Lefke  (EUL) Faculty of Communication Sciences and LAÜ TV was realized by İffet Diler, a successful retired speaker and educator from TRT institution.

In the two-day training, Diler noted that the accent and dialect variations were a reflection of the richness of language. Diler added that the words used are the same, but the words and tonalities are different. Diler said it was a pleasant experience for him to observe these in Cyprus.

Diler: Pay attention in choosing the words used in everyday conversation

Diler said that the main goal of communication should be love-respect, and that in our day people are having trouble communicating with each other. Diler said that in order to overcome these troubles, it was important to take care in selecting the words used in everyday conversation, so it is also important to empathize. When the words were being spoken, Diler stated that every letter in the word should be given importance and should not be spoken at a fast pace, saying that it is possible with the elimination of the lip and jaw laxity and showed examples of the exercises to be done about those who participated in the activity.

Diler then conducted practical training on radio program presentation techniques with students of Radio Television and Cinema in LAÜ FM application studios. Diler who visited the university’s application television LAÜ TV also stated that the technical infrastructure and equipment of LAÜ TV and LAU FM are extremely good and emphasized the importance of transforming the theoretical knowledge learned in the lessons in the sense of sector preparation into practice and that students of Radio Television and Cinema Department are lucky in this sense, Diler said.

At the end of the activity, Dean of Communication Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Belkıs Ayhan Tarhan presented the certificate of appreciation to Diler
