“Studio Lefke 16” Workshop Creative Designs from EUL Architecture Students
The Faculty of Architecture of the European University of Lefke organized 6 workshops within 5 days under the name of “Studio Lefke 16” displaying various modern, creative and unique designs.
“Architecture and Fashion Design”, “Draw-Design-Create-Play”, “Design amused- Create-Play”, “Feelings, Senses and Place”, “Architecture, Research, Criticism and Discussion Platform”, “Create and Build Structural Crust” were the topics of the colourful workshop. Primary school and Cyprus Turkish Society for the Protection of Children students were some of the important participants of the event.
Within the scope of “Studio Lefke 16” event that was organized by European University of Lefke (EUL) Architecture Faculty students, they revealed various modern, creative, and unique designs with 6 workshops within 5 days.
Within workshops “Architecture and Fashion Design”, “Draw-Design-Create-Play”, “Design amused-Create-Play”, “Feelings, Senses and Place”, “Architecture, Research, Criticism and Discussion Platform”, “Create and Build Structural Crust”.
Active learning skills was the main objective
Students, who were a part of the project, firstly combined architecture and pioneer opinions that form fashion in “Architecture and Fashion Design” work. Then, they used material and production techniques together in accordance with contraction skills. As a result, they revealed unique designs and exhibited their costumes as they synthesized important architectural structures and fashion. The second part of the set up was “Draw-Design-Create-Play”. This colourful event was especially designed for primary school students. Various imaginative characters were created by primary students followed by being designed by architecture students. In “Design Amused-Create-Play” work, creative places were created by students for children. In “Feelings, Senses, and Place” work, students integrated components that addressed to senses like colour, tissue, sound, smell in spatial scale and they created places for visitor students to experience feelings like fear/ tension, peace/calmness, and excitement/energetic.
“Architecture, Research, Criticism, and Discussion Platform” was another project that was created by 12 architecture students and 2 project coordinators. The aim of this particular project was to create a sample model suchlike the European Architecture Student group thus establishing a platform for students raising awareness about workshops, seminars, exhibitions.
“Structural Crust-Design and Build” was yet another topic where students built structural systems that they prepared in computer aided design placed in real scale by using wooden materials. Students were given opportunity to gain awareness between real and fiction through active learning in the workshop that was held with fiction of design and build.
“The Architectural work carried artistic value”
Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mesut Birol Özdeniz gave information about the various projects. He specified that the workshop was in fact a project made by architecture students working together with various establishments. He also shared that the Architecture students brought to life imaginative characters created by Primary School students. Özdeniz thanked his students along with all other participants who helped and took place throughout the event. Dr. Özdeniz specified that within this event “The Architectural Work Carried Artistic Value.”
Architecture Dean Dr. Özdeniz along with all other academic lecturers of the department visited the stands of the workshop along with obtaining detailed information from the students involved. At the end of the event all students were awarded with “Certificate of Participation”.
