‘Women and Entrepreneurship ” panel was held at EUL
“Women and Entrepreneurship ” panel was arranged by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the European University of Lefke (EUL). Hoteliers Association General Coordinator and former Minister of Economy, Ayşe Dönmezer, President of the Cyprus Turkish Association of Business Women, Senay Ekingen, and Universal Patient Rights Association President, Emeten İmge, participated as a speaker in the panel, which took place in EUL Rauf Raif Denktaş Education Building Conference Hall and chaired by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department Head Assoc. Dr. Okan Şafak.
The real world, entrepreneurship and the concepts such as social entrepreneurship, which makes the International Women’s Day important, were dwelled on in the panel.
Dönmezer: “Entrepreneurship is providing services by producing products needed”
In the first instance, Ayşe Dönmezer, who emphasized on entrepreneurship in the panel, characterised entrepreneurs as people, who aim to provide moral and material gain, by providing services by dint of producing products needed or trading, and moving to set up their own business with this purpose.
İmge: “We stand a result of our own economic planning”
İmge, who said that they do work in many areas regarding the field of social entrepreneurship and indicated that they are trying to progress in social entrepreneurship issues especially not in our country or missing, as a result of economic planning, they have created their own without any additives, remarked the fact that social entrepreneurship in our country is still not at the desired level due to the only reason, which is the lack of equality of opportunity has not adopted.
Ekingen: “There is no business that women can not overcome when given the opportunity”
Ekingen stated that she was unemployed for a long time after finishing school and she depicted that she started working then. After that, she left the company and founded her own business and she progressed by enlarging slowly. Ekingen, who emphasized that there is no business that women can not overcome when given the opportunity, made suggestions to women about making entrepreneurship.
Ayşe Dönmezer, Senay Ekingen and Emete İmge were presented certificate of appreciation by Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty members, Assoc. Dr. Okan Veli Şafaklı, Asst. Assoc. Dr. Tahir Yeşilada and Asst. Assoc. Dr. Fehiman Eminer at the end of the panel.
