The basis of physiotherapy are human functions and movements. Physiotherapy is a health care profession, primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. Graduates of this field receive the title of “Physiotherapist”.

Physiotherapists accompany individuals on their life journeys and maintains as well as enhance their quality of life and improve their physical abilities with the essential trainings and exercise programs. Along with this, physiotherapists have the authority of providing necessary intervention using physiotherapy approaches and advanced technological equipment required to meet the needs of patients. Graduates of this program become an active member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams in related centres. The program offers both English and Turkish Education.

Our main aim as the Department of Physiotherapy is to train Physiotherapists who have adopted the concept of lifelong learning, who are open to innovations and follow technological and scientific developments related with the field, who can use theoretical knowledge in the practical applications, and select and implement the most accurate evaluation and application program, who can develop projects for the benefit of the society, who are bound to ethical values, and at the same time be able to portray exploratory, contemporary, knowledgeable and skilful acts with respect to human rights.

Our Vision;

Our vision is to improve problem based education, to develop protective physiotherapy methods in areas affecting community health, to bring the profession of physiotherapy to the contemporary level within the health services sphere and ultimately to contribute to professional development within both national as well as international scientific topics.

Period and Content of the Study;

The training period of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department is 4 years.

Our students receive their training in the laboratories equipped with the necessary professional and technological equipment. In this regard, we follow the innovations and technological developments in the frame of the continuous development concept and offer a high level education to our students. Our main aim is to train qualified physiotherapists who can work in the TRNC, Turkey and other parts of the world.

Career Advancement;

For the academic progress of the graduates of our department within the scope of the study areas, our University offers master’s degree opportunity. In this respect, our graduate students can get the title of “Expert”. Apart from Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, there is a possibility to receive a master’s degree in different fields such as Neurological Rehabilitation, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Exercise Physiology, and Athlete Health.

If there are more than one physiotherapist in the hospitals, there is the opportunity of receiving the titles of “Responsible Physiotherapist” in “Head Physiotherapist” from the chief of medicine.
