A panel titled “The Power of Women” was held at the European University of Lefke
The European University of Lefke (EUL) hosted a significant event addressing the power of women in social life, their rights, and the challenges they face through a panel titled “The Power of Women: Issues, Solutions, and Rights.” Organized as part of the Community Service Practices course, the panel saw broad participation and drew significant interest from attendees. The event aimed to raise awareness of critical topics such as women’s rights, gender equality, and empowering women in society.
The panel began with an opening speech by students involved in the Community Service Practices course and the course’s academic advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Figen Yaman Lesinger. The speakers included Dr. Sibel Solyalı, who provided insights into women’s roles in society and their social impacts, and Attorney Şevval Öztürk, who detailed women’s legal rights, their enforcement, and the legal challenges women face. The contributions of these two experts offered participants valuable perspectives from both academic and practical viewpoints.
Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lesinger, the panel featured thought-provoking questions that enriched the discussion. Throughout the session, the importance of strengthening women’s roles in society was strongly emphasized. The panel highlighted the need for greater representation of women in leadership, education, economics, and social life while offering suggestions for achieving these goals at both individual and societal levels.
