Institute of Graduate Studies & Research
A wide range of graduate programs leading to Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees are offered coordinated and administered by the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at EUL. The Institute is responsible for overseeing, processing and coordinating matters concerning graduate admissions, assistantships, thesis proposals and defenses, supervisions, and examinations, subject to the by-laws of the University and the regulations lay down by the University Senate. The Institute serves to maintain quality in graduate education by adapting universally accepted academic principles and criteria.
The aim of graduate studies at EUL is to equip the students with a high level academic background as well as necessary skills to be competent in the academic world, industry or the service sector. Graduate studies at EUL are founded on academic freedom and ethical conduct. Our mission is to raise graduates who can follow new developments and trends in their area of specialization, true academicians with developed research, and communication skills capable of contributing to the society in several different ways. The faculty members have a wide range of Faculty Research Interests that allow practice of interdisciplinary research besides classical research areas.
A total of 36 master (23 with thesis and 9 non-thesis) and 15 PhD programs in the fields of science, health sciences and social sciences are offered by the institute. Based on the program education language is either Turkish or English.
The graduate programs at EUL are accredited by YOK (Higher Education Council of Turkey) and recognized by international academic associations.
While the minimum requirements to complete non-thesis graduate degree programs are 10 courses (30 credits and 1 term project), the minimum requirement for thesis graduate programs are 7 courses (21 credits) a seminar and a thesis. Requirements to complete a PhD program is at least 7 courses (not less than 21 credits), a seminar, a PhD qualification exam and a thesis. Welcome to the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research of European University of Lefke.
You are now at the stage of specialization and shaping science, having laid the foundations of your academic journey through your undergraduate education. Our Institute has adopted the cultivation of qualified human resources who uphold professional and ethical values above all else, embrace innovative approaches, and shape the world of the future as its primary mission. In today’s world, merely possessing knowledge is not sufficient; it is necessary to blend that knowledge with an interdisciplinary perspective and transform it into technological and cultural advancement in line with the principles of sustainability.
As the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research of European University of Lefke, we embrace as the foundation of our institutional values: being research-oriented, contemporary, and solution-focused with a critical perspective; and placing transparency, accountability, creativity, innovation, and sensitivity to fundamental rights and freedoms at the core of everything we do.
The master’s and doctoral programs offered within our Institute present a strong theoretical foundation alongside application-oriented research. Research constitutes the vital foundation of our enterprise Institute. Our research centers and laboratories, which adopt an interdisciplinary approach, are dedicated to producing innovative solutions to current problems. Our faculty members and researchers continuously expand the boundaries of knowledge through collaboration with national funding organizations and international research consortia. Within this research ecosystem, our students evolve from passive consumers of knowledge into active producers of knowledge.
