First lecture titled “Create Your Own Star” was held

Acquaintance Meeting titled “New Faces/New Experiences” which was held by European University of Lefke Faculty of Architecture for two days was carried out with the participation of the students and faculty members.

Dean Prof. Dr. Lerzan Aras who made an opening speech at event touched upon the strength of design as a communication device and gave the following advice to new students;

Dean Aras; Each design touches the life of a human, you create a difference

Aras said that “Design education is a challenging but enjoyable journey. Once you’ve tasted it, you’ll understand how right it is to choose this profession. With every design you touch human life and make a difference. Every design is special and indispensable for you. The first starting point for a good design is to ask the question ‘Can it be more useful; how can I make human life easier? This is followed by remembering respect for nature, environmental, cultural and historical values. Of course, reading a lot, looking around carefully, trying to communicate with people to understand their wishes and most importantly to realize our own power, is the right starting point for begging a design”.

After the opening speech, the faculty members were introduced to the students and Aras conducted the first lecture titled “Create Your Own Star”. In the first lesson, especially the responsibility of the designer, in which areas of our life the design is needed and the features that make a design different were mentioned and examples of successful designers’ own design journeys were given.

After the introduction lecture, students started their first studies with “zine” design workshop in the open area with the leadership of Academicians of Faculty of Architecture Assist. Prof. Dr. Elif Atamaz, Assist. Prof. Dr. Derin Işıkören and Dr. Feriha Urfalı Doğu.
