EUL set a new record in its history – the highest number of students has enrolled at LAÜ to date

According to the results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) placements, EUL (LAÜ) ranked first among universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in terms of the number of students placed. A total of 2,537 students chose EUL, with 1,460 placed in undergraduate programs and 1,077 in associate degree programs.
With these results, European University of Lefke achieved a historic milestone, becoming the most preferred university in the TRNC for the first time in its 35-year history.
Commenting on the matter, EUL Board of Trustees Chairman Enver Öztürk highlighted that 21.90% of all students placed in universities across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) chose to study at EUL. Öztürk pointed out that one of LAÜ’s founding missions is the development of Lefke and its surrounding region. He emphasized that the University’s stable and sustainable structure has contributed to increasing investments in the area each year, supporting the overall growth and advancement of the region. He further noted that EUL’s achievements in recent years have been widely appreciated, underscoring the recognition the University has gained for its consistent success..
Öztürk continued his remarks by saying: “It is a significant source of pride for us that, for the first time since our establishment in 1990, our University has achieved the distinction of being the most preferred university in the TRNC according to the YKS results. This outcome, achieved after a steady period of growth, is clear evidence that EUL is on the right path. Considering the universities in our country, the consistent increase over the years in the proportion of students choosing EUL, and the fact that this year, 21.90% of students coming to study in our country will be coming to the Lefke region, is also of great importance for the area. Furthermore, the fact that EUL, with 2,537 newly placed students, has reached the highest occupancy rate among universities in the TRNC, an impressive 81.39%, stands out as another remarkable achievement.”
Öztürk stated, “It is our common desire for the success of EUL to be sustainable and for it to have a bright future. In this context, from the very first day we assumed our duties as the Board of Trustees, we have continued our efforts with a strong sense of responsibility, working in collaboration with all stakeholders in a planned and systematic manner to further advance our University beyond its current standing.” Öztürk also added, “The success achieved is the result of the dedicated efforts of our harmoniously working university administration together with our strong academic and administrative staff. I would like to congratulate, first and foremost, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen, as well as our entire academic and administrative team for their significant contributions to these two important achievements within a single academic year, and I extend my sincere gratitude for their devoted work.”
