EUL’s 26th Term Graduates received Diplomas
Graduation Excitement at EUL
European University of Lefke’s (EUL) graduates of 2018-2019 Academic Year received their diplomas at a glorious ceremony held on 27th June 2019. The ceremony began with the participation of graduates, a moment of silence, the National Anthem and the opening speeches.
EUL Graduation Ceremony was held with intense participation of protocol
Mustafa Akinci, President of the TRNC, TRNC Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, Ambassador of Nicosia Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Murat Başçeri, National Education and Culture Minister Nazim Cavusoglu, Finance Minister Olgun Amcaoğlu, Health Minister Dr. Ali Pilli, MPs from the region and other honored guests attended the ceremony. This year, 1528 students from associate degree and graduate programs graduated from EUL. The ceremony, which started with a minute of silence in memory of the Great Leader Atatürk, martyrs and deceased academics, continued with speeches.
Akıncı: Today is the day that you reap the fruits of your years of effort and elbow grease
Addressing the graduates, Mustafa Akinci, President of the TRNC said that “Today, in this graduation, you are turning a new page of life, stepping into a new era. In this new era you will have new responsibilities. There is no doubt that today is the day that you reap the fruits of your years of effort and elbow grease”. Pointing out that university life is more than just a diploma, Akıncı said that graduates will be able to struggle alone in the next phase of their life, where they are taking new steps with their gains and accumulations. Akıncı also said that “I believe that you have been trained as an open-minded young people who are modern-minded, researchers, with Atatürk’s principles, who aim and question contemporary civilization” and added that he believes that being open minded, having contemporary approaches, and adopting researching and questioning identity will make it easier for students to cope with the challenges they face in life. Akıncı finally said that “I wish you all the best in the new period, and I would like to congratulate the rector, the lecturers and the parents who brought you to these days”.
Tatar: Receiving a diploma is not the end but it’s the beginning
In his speech TRNC Prime Minister Ersin Tatar said that “European University of Lefke continues its path as a science and innovation center in Lefke, one of the most beautiful places of our country. Tonight, I would like to congratulate the students who graduated at the beautiful graduation ceremony, I wish you all success”. Giving advices to the students, Tatar said that “You will educate yourself further, you will work hard and produce for humanity, the important thing is to be able to accomplish beautiful things with what you have learned here. You are the guarantee of the future, you are giving great services to your people, your country; you are starting to walk on this path this evening with sure steps. It is important to live this excitement and to carry it in your heart and to serve your country and humanity accordingly”. He further stated that “I graduated many years ago and never stopped. Receiving a diploma is not the moment when it all ends; it’s the moment it starts. I wish you success; I greet you all with respect”.
Başçeri: I strongly believe that you will be successful in your professional life with the knowledge and experience you have gained at EUL
In his speech, Turkish Ambassador of Nicosia, Ali Murat Başçeri said that “I strongly believe that you will be successful in your professional life with the knowledge and experience you have gained at the European University of Lefke”. Addressing the graduates, Başçeri said that “Young people, you graduate today. I hope you leave EUL, Lefke and TRNC with good memories. I wish you a happy, peaceful, healthy and successful period in your new business life. I wish you never miss the beauties around you, especially your family. I am sure that you will be volunteer representatives of TRNC where you will continue your life”.
Çavuşoğlu: A large number of students from foreign countries study at international standards
National Education and Culture Minister Nazim Cavusoglu said that “We have come here to accompany and witness your joyful evening, your happy night. First of all, welcome to our country from your own countries. With the tolerance of these lands, you have lived and introduced your culture here. While living and introducing them, you have come to our tolerance, our culture, and we are really glad that you are now taking our culture to tens of countries and millions of people. And you bring us to the world”. Çavuşoğlu also said that “Our students from abroad come here and become international engineers, teachers and states people in their own countries at international standards” and expressed his pride with the students. Çavuşoğlu finally said that “I owe a debt of gratitude to you who have made us proud and your teachers”.
Uyumsal: EUL is undoubtedly an important milestone in the condition of Lefke.
Member of Board of Trustees Feral Uyumsal who has made a speech on behalf of the Board of Trustees said that “EUL is undoubtedly an important milestone in the condition of Lefke and the nature and humanity of Lefke is an important factor in the character of our university today”. Uyumsal also said that “The only task of universities is not to educate scientists and provide the students with a profession. In addition, the task of universities is to provide students with a civilized world view, to show harmony with different elements in multiculturalism, and to enrich their lives with all arts and sport activities outside the fields they are taught”. Pointing out that today, the students who prefer EUL to be educated from different countries of the world are welcomed by the people of Lefke, Uyumsal said that “In addition to cultural and artistic activities in EUL, we are also glad to follow scientific publications, studies, conferences and projects during the academic year. I hope that we can exist as we produce and imbue the students prepared for life”.
Yükselen: EUL will continue to be an exemplary institution internationally in the field of higher education
In his speech, the Rector of EUL Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen said that he is experiencing the pride of being one of the most prestigious universities in the TRNC and having prestige in the international arena and added that EUL has achieved great success in its accreditation activities and with its increasing number of accreditations every year. Yükselen underlined that they have graduated 1528 students from 23 different countries in 2018-2019 Academic Year and emphasized that EUL, which is evaluated by the UK-based QS organization, which has an international reputation in the ranking of world universities, has achieved full points from the most parameters among other TRNC universities”.
Yükselen further said that “I would like to point out that our university will continue its efforts with the aim of raising the bar of quality in education every year and will continue to be an exemplary institution of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus that will be proud of in the field of higher education and most importantly our university will make no concessions on the quality journey in the education it carries out with great passion”.
Yükselen continued that “At this point, if I have the chance to talk about sustainable quality journey in education on this meaningful day, I would like to express my gratitude once more on behalf of EUL students, faculty members and staff for their support and attention to the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia and the TRNC state”.
Expressing his sincere gratitude to the guests who had honored the evening, Yükselen said that “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and take risks in your new life, pursue your professional dreams with passion, remember that you have talent accumulation and knowledge that can adapt to the conditions in whichever world you go and succeed, never stop working and researching. We are greeting you with the honor and pride of training you as modern individuals who have the experience to work anywhere in the world that do not leave the guidance of science and reason”.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates. Fatma Su, a student of Fazıl Küçük Education Faculty, and Jethro Anywar, a student of the Faculty of Engineering, expressed their pride and joy in graduating from the European University of Lefke, which aims to raise contemporary generations with high quality education and thanked the EUL family.
After the speeches, the students who were entitled to graduate were given their diplomas. The ceremony ended with the graduation cocktail after the cap beats and fireworks, which the students were eagerly awaiting throughout their years of education.
