“The Management of Strategic Risk and Tax-Related Issues for Strong Institutions” was discussed at EUL

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Finance and Banking at the European University of Lefke (EUL) organized a conference titled “The Management of Strategic Risk and Tax-Related Issues for Strong Institutions.” The event featured Tezer Dikengil, Tax Supervisor at Turkcell Northern Cyprus, as the guest speaker. Drawing on her professional experience, Dikengil delivered a presentation that strongly connected real-world practice with the concepts discussed in the classroom.
In her presentation, Dikengil explained to students the key risks faced by Turkcell Northern Cyprus and how these risks influence strategic decision-making. She addressed macroeconomic conditions and exchange rate volatility, emphasizing that fluctuations in the Turkish lira play a decisive role in costs and pricing. Evaluating market saturation and the competitive environment, she noted that entry into the market by a new operator is not easy and that this situation increases competitive pressure on existing firms. She also highlighted the importance of preventing cybersecurity breaches. She discussed regulatory and tax obligations, stating that high tax burdens create financial pressure on institutions and shape long-term planning accordingly.
The conference attracted strong interest from students, and the question-and-answer session continued for an extended period. Dikengil’s presentation contributed to students’ academic development while strengthening the connection between professional practice and finance education.
