EUL Scientific Research Projects’ Fund (EUL-BAPKO) based on Call for Applications and Referee/Panel review

The faculty members of the European University of Lefke and researchers who have completed their PhD can apply for the grant of the EUL Scientific Research Projects (abbreviated as BAP) Fund (EUL-BAPKO) according to the procedure and principles regarding the evaluation, acceptance, support, execution of related services, monitoring, and assessment of the results of scientific research project proposals outlined below step-by-step:

BAPKO Research Projects Implementation Guideline and Flowchart

  1. Project proposals submitted to EUL-BAPKO are evaluated to examine whether they meet the specified project proposal format, given below as a link to the grant application form. The EUL-BAPKO decides on project proposals that meet the conditions at the formal evaluation stage. If the EUL-BAPKO deems it necessary, it may subject the relevant projects to referee evaluation.
  2. The EUL-BAPKO, taking into account the opinions of the referees, if any, decides to support the application, to send it back to the project manager for revision, or to reject it.
  3. Project applications from the revision are discussed again in the EUL-BAPKO. It is decided to support the project application, to send it back to the coordinator for a second revision, or to reject it.
  4. The EUL-BAPKO may reduce or increase the budget proposed in the project application, cancel the requests in the proposal partially or completely, and/or request that the duration and name of the project be changed.
  5. Decisions regarding the project application are announced to the project managers. If the project is accepted, the contract, signed by the coordinator and approved by the EUL-BAPKO and the Rector, is finalised, ensuring that the project is carried out. Transactions related to the project cannot be initiated before the project is carried out.
  6. Project managers are obliged to submit interim reports containing the work and developments within the scope of the project to the EUL-BAPKO in six-month periods from the date of the contract, in accordance with the form prepared by the EUL-BAPKO. Interim reports are evaluated and monitored by the EUL-BAPKO. The EUL-BAPKO may send interim reports for referee review when it deems necessary. No changes can be made in the project without informing the EUL-BAPKO and obtaining approval. Projects for which an interim report is not submitted are halted, and necessary actions are taken in accordance with the BAP Project Proposals Implementation Principles.
  7. The project manager is obliged to submit the report containing the results of the work carried out within the scope of the project to the EUL-BAPKO in accordance with the form prepared by the EUL-BAPKO within three months following the end date specified in the protocol. The final reports submitted to the EUL-BAPKO are evaluated by the Commission and may be sent for peer review when deemed necessary. If necessary, it is sent for revision

The results of the supported project are expected to be published as an article in journals within the scope of Science Citation Index- Expanded (SCI-Expanded), Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) or ‘Field Indexes’ approved by the Senate, or as a chapter in a book or book published by internationally recognized publishing houses, within two years at the latest after the completion of the project. For projects carried out in the fields of Social Sciences and Educational Sciences, a book or chapter published by a national and/or international publishing house is also considered sufficient. Publication requirement is not required for products and similar projects that are patented or developed as industrial products or prototypes within two years from the end of the project. The scientific outputs of the project manager, who will apply for a new project based on their previous projects, are examined.

In all kinds of publications carried out within the scope of the projects supported by the EUL-BAPKO, it is stated that “This work was supported by the Scientific Research Projects Fund of the European University of Lefke. Project Number: ….” or a phrase with a similar meaning.   In addition, a copy of the publications made within the scope of the supported projects must be submitted to the EUL-BAPKO.
