Health and Wellbeing
European University of Lefke promotes student health and wellbeing through a range of services and workshops. We offer guidance on diet, nutrition, and healthy eating habits to support physical and mental wellness. Students can participate in interactive workshops, cooking demonstrations, and one-on-one consultations to learn practical strategies for maintaining a balanced lifestyle while studying.
Health Centre
The Centre provides essential medical services including patient consultations, vaccinations, injections, wound care (stitching and dressing), and short-term observation when needed.
The Centre also serves as a training ground for health-related programmes, offering students valuable hands-on experience and opportunities to get involved. In collaboration with EUL student clubs and societies, the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, it runs awareness campaigns throughout the year on important topics such as HIV/AIDS, Autism, ADHD.
These initiatives aim to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and promote understanding across the university community.
The Centre is conveniently located behind the Faculty of Pharmacy Building, approximately 5 km from Cengiz Topel Public Hospital. In cases when necessary patients may be kept under observation at the health centre.
For urgent medical needs, the university’s ambulance is on 24-hour standby to transport patients to the nearest appropriate health facility.
All international students enrolled at EUL, after completing annual student resident permit, benefit from by a health insurance coverage, which allows them to access medical care free of charge at public hospitals.
As part of the annual student permit process in TRNC, all students are required to undergo a basic health check, which includes a blood test. This is to ensure your health and the safety of the university community. The blood test typically screens for various virus or bacterial infections such as HIV and TB. These tests are routine and confidential. The results help the university provide appropriate support and guidance if needed and ensure a safe and healthy campus environment for everyone.
Women and Reproductive Health Support and Mentoring
The university offers free, confidential sexual and reproductive health services on campus. Students can access support such as gynaecology appointments, general health check-ups, contraception advice, STI testing, and counselling in a safe and welcoming environment.
You can also get clear, reliable information to help you make informed choices about your health and well-being. The health centre’s mentoring programme is there to support and guide you, helping you better understand your body and feel more confident managing your health.
Mental Health Support at EUL
EUL provides free and confidential mental health support services for both students and staff. These services are designed to promote psychological well-being, emotional balance, and a healthy campus environment. The university recognizes that academic and professional life can sometimes be challenging and therefore offers easy access to qualified mental health professionals who are ready to provide guidance and assistance whenever needed.
The support is delivered by a team of expert psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors, who work collaboratively to address a wide range of issues such as stress management, anxiety, depression, academic pressure, and personal difficulties.
Through individual counseling sessions, workshops, and awareness programs, EUL ensures that every member of its community has the opportunity to seek help, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall quality of life.
