Architecture

The Department of Architecture is one of EUL’s oldest departments founded in 1991. It has succeeded in becoming one of the leading architecture departments in the TRNC since its establishment. In 2013, the department was converted into a Faculty with the Departments of Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Design, thus becoming a stronger department with its studio based education style.

The 4 year undergraduate programme which is in English aims to bring up qualified and globally experienced architects.

Graduates from the department will find the opportunity of working as architects in different
occupations. For example architect graduates might find jobs working at architectural design offices, planning departments of municipalities, in the private construction sector, in public planning offices and departments, as academics within universities or as freelance architects, running their own architect bureaus.

The programmes offered by the Department of Architecture are designed to train architects at international standards, aiming to contribute to literature with the academic research means provided.

The architecture degree programme designed as a modular system also allows the opportunity for students to transfer to other universities in the Middle East, Europe, North America and Turkey. All the same it is possible to transfer from other universities to the European University of Lefke. Architectural education follows a different programme from other fields of education. Students who want to enroll at the department are required to have a strong background in maths and sciences as well as social subjects. Artistic skills are also required. All architect students must follow technological developments and advancements, particularly in computer related areas. They must be able to design structures and models using the latest technology.

As a result, the department’s academic staff has been precariously chosen for the task, that is to train students in the best way possible and to allow such skills or capabilities to emerge. Elective courses included in the department allow students to expand their knowledge and area of expertise.
