Dean of the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. S. Rümeysa Demirdamar made a presentation on Continuous Professional Development and the Future of Pharmacy within the scope of “Career Days” organized by Atatürk University Faculty of Pharmacy.
Demirdamar stated that the pharmacy profession has changed both in terms of training and practices, pharmacists that provide clinical pharmacy services, including community pharmacy, this service also Demirdam to indicate that education restructuring to be granted, this restructuring within the framework of the Bologna process in line with Turkey including all European Union countries subtracting since 2000 pharmacy education to 5 years and that in the last two years they have graduated their students with an MPharm professional degree, with emphasis on clinical subjects, including clinical pharmacy and pharmacotherapy; He stated that the education of pharmacy was increased to 6 years in the USA and many other countries and that his students graduated with a PharmD degree. Demirdamar pointed out that MPharm and PharmD showed that they are not equivalent to scientific MSci and PhD, and that the undergraduate education received is clinically oriented, and that these professional titles do not hold scientific master and doctorate degrees and titles in faculties after graduation.

In the second part of her presentation, Demirdamar stated that there is a new development every day in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and that continuous professional development should be applied in order to continuously renew and update the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired by Medical and Pharmacy professionals who are now trained in medical sciences.
In the last part of her presentation, Demirdamar demonstrated the continuous professional development cycle, which was accepted by the International Pharmacy Federation (FIP) in 2002, and how this cycle was implemented, by exemplifying and explained how to prepare a continuous professional development file.
