EUL won a golden medal in “2nd International Food Festival”
European University of Lefke (EUL) School of Tourism & Hotel Management Department of Gastronomy students participated in the “2nd International Food Festival” that took place at İzmir in April 20-22, 2018 and won the first place in the team Category of “Best University”.
EUL Gastronomy Students are still hungry for success
Giving information about the contest, Gastronomy Department Academician Zihni Türksel said that, the students competed individually as; Süleyman Karatuğ with pasta plate, Emre Çiftçioğlu with restaurant plate and meat dish, Ufuk Sarıcık with restaurant plate and meat dish, Melih Uysal with fish dish, Burak Can Akata with desert plate, Fisun Yılmaz with desert plate.
In the category of “Best University”, students won three golden medals, a cup and the intercollegiate first place with the team that included; Ufuk Sarıcık, Vahitcan Demirci and Burak Can Akata with their presentations of Stuffed Squid as a starter, Fillet Steak as a main dish and Ekmek Kadayıfı (crumpets in thick syrup) as a desert.
Türksel said that, “I believe we have proved how good we are again in this competition” and added that they have achieved this success as a team with intense, continuous and devoted working. Türksel also said that, “First of all I would like to thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen for his supports and the Director of the School of Tourism & Hotel Management, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmedali Egemen”.
Stating that they will be attending the competition named “National Tastes Championship” that will take place at Serbia in June 15-16-17, in three categories, Türksel said that, “Again, I would like to thank EUL management for their support , I believe that we will return with great success”.
