Under the framework of the Design Week which was held for the 4^th time this year under the name of Workshop Lefke ’19 and which is organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Architecture famous architects including editor of famous architecture portal Arkitera and the RAF in Turkey shared their experiences with EUL Students.

Master Architect Aslı Özbay presented her project “Argos in Capadocia” which won an award at the 16th National Architectural Exhibition in the Building Protection Branch

Within the scope of the Design Week which provided students with useful information on architecture discipline, Özbay presented her project “Argos in Capadocia” which won an award at the 16th National Architectural Exhibition in the Building Protection Branch. Conveying information about her project “Argos in Capadocia” which she describes as “restoration of honor”, Özbay informed the students and her colleagues about recycling, architectural memory and original restoration. Özbay stated that the Argos in Cappadocia project was an attempt to maintain maximum faithfulness to the concept of protection in a very little known and very battered village like Uchisar and added that “There is much to learn from the caves system, which has witnessed the tradition of underground life for over 3000 years”. Özbay emphasized that the project was an effort to carefully revert the rock carvings that were left under the rubble for years. Özbay also said that “This is the observance of the balance in the new constructions built on the ground” and emphasized the sensitivity of knowing the value of giving importance to protection.

On the other hand, Hasan Özbay shared the importance of competitions in the world of Architecture in his presentation titled “Competition in Architecture” and gave examples from his experiences. Özbay shared the freedom of competition in architecture and explained the unique way of thinking in the competitions with the students.

Editor of famous architecture portal Arkitera and the RAF in Turkey Tülay Aydın visited the design week and conveyed the recent works of Arkitera Architecture Centre. After the presentation, the relationship between the architectural sector and the media and the relationship between the disciplines that directly touched the definition of “architecture” were discussed with the students.
