“Lefke from My Point of View” themed Photograph Competition attracted great attention

The theme of the photography competition organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) for the first time is determined as “Lefke from My Point of View”.

Academician of EUL Faculty of Communitation Levent Duranlı said that “Besides its natural beauties, Lefke has been hosting the cultural heritage of various civilizations for thousands of years with its historical riches. At the same time, Lefke stands out as one of the rare places in the world where plants growing in different climates can be found side by side” and added that they invite all photographers to participate in the competition in order to is to document the values of the district of Lefke with photographs, and to contribute to the photography art of our country.

EUL invites all photo-lovers to the Competition

The competition will be organized in two main categories as ‘Students’ and ’Non-Students‘ and in two sections as ‘Color’ and ‘Black and White’. Competitors can participate in only one of these sections. People who want to participate in the competition must first choose one that is suitable for them. The ones participating in the competition in one of the sections may submit works to both as ‘Color’ and ‘Black and White’ categories. As the theme of the competition suggests photographs must be taken within the boundaries of “Lefke district of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. It is not an obstacle for the photographs to enter the competition if they are published in a social media, outside of the competition. However, photographs that have received awards or have been exhibited in any competition previously held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus cannot participate in the competition.

The deadline for the application has been changed as April 22, 2019, and the selective board of our country’s valuable photographic artists, painters and academicians will determine a total of 12 degrees to be awarded for each section and category. Selection Committee (Jury) Members are; Feridun Işıman (Paiter), Mehmet Gökyiğit (Photograph Artist), Salih Sevindik (Photograph Artist), Atila Karaderi (Photograph Artist, Teacher), Ediz Tuncel (Photograph Artist, Academician), Faruk Kalkan (Dean of EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences) , Birsel Matara (Academician of EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences).

Besides the Works which rank, the works which pass the preliminary elimination will be exhibited in various parts of our country.
