The seminar was held in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2004, from October 1 to 31, to emphasize the importance of early detection and increase awareness of breast cancer. Within the framework of the events, Oncology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polat Olgun from the Oncology Unit of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital in Northern Cyprus gave a seminar to EUL students on breast cancer awareness and the importance of screening. He emphasized the role of breast structure in determining risk levels for breast cancer. Olgun also provided information on the methods that should be followed for breast cancer prevention in certain population groups carrying specific genes, according to guidelines.
After the seminar, students engaged in an interactive session by asking Dr. Olgun questions about symptoms to watch for in the diagnosis of breast cancer, the experiences of patients during treatment, and the impact of the disease on society
