The most important risk factor in all types of dementia is age. It is most common between the ages of 65-85 and its incidence increases with age. Women have a higher risk of Alzheimer’s Disease. Since cerebrovascular diseases are more common in men, vascular (vascular) dementia is more common. Exposure to head trauma and excessive head trauma is a risk factor for Alzheimer’s Disease ”.

The exact cause of the disease is not known yet

“Since the disease starts very insidiously, if you notice symptoms such as memory weakness, difficulties in doing daily life activities, difficulty in finding words and confusion in time and place, please consult a doctor immediately,” says Meriç, stating that the chance of benefiting from treatment will increase when the disease is diagnosed early. He stated that it consists of three main stages and that there may be long years between each stage and that some patients may progress differently without being subject to these stages.

However, with early diagnosis, the symptoms of the disease can be reduced and its progression can be stopped or slowed down.
