“Online Design Talks”
European University of Lefke Communication Sciences Faculty organized “Online Design Talks”. Events that took place through Microsoft Teams lasted 3 days. Lecturers of the Faculty of Communication Sciences Visual Communication Design Department took an active part in the activities, which were also open to participation from outside the university. Activities that were realized interactively with questions and answers attracted great attention.
The first one took place on Tuesday, December 15, with the participation of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mine Okur from Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. She gave a presentation titled “Design Process in Video Games”, Okur talked about the main issues that concern graphic designers in the process of video games and design.
Graphic Designer Asil Dursun, the guest of the second day of the event held on Wednesday, December 16, and a graduate of EUL Faculty of Communication, talked about the difficulties experienced by advertising agencies and printing houses during the pandemic process. On Thursday, December 17, the last day of the event, Photography Artist Mehmet Gökyiğit made his presentation titled “Catching Success in Photography Contests”.
Regarding the conversations where the participants can participate actively by asking questions to the guests and exchange information; Head of Visual Communication Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Elif Atamaz stated as; “I think students have opened their horizons and brought a new vision to their education life, especially during the pandemic period when they are closed to their homes. They also reinforced their sense of unity by finding the opportunity to meet with other student friends and professors and feel that they were members of the same faculty. I believe that our series of events is very beneficial for them ”and emphasized the importance of the event.
Faculty of Communication Sciences Deputy Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Asude Tunca also stated that as long as online education continues, online activities will continue as well. Tunca; “Education at the university cannot be limited to lectures, it must be fed with different activities. We will continue to offer such online activities to our students, especially in the current pandemic conditions where we feel closely that communication technologies are a part of our lives ”.
