A professional oath ceremony was held for the graduates of the 2020-2021 Academic Year Nursing Department by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Health School Nursing Department. The swearing-in ceremony, where the graduates took their first steps into the profession, was attended by EUL Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Akın Cellatoğlu, Director of the School of Health Prof. Dr. Deniz Şelimen, deans, faculty members and parents of students.

The swearing-in Ceremony started with the speeches of Emre Demir and Adedapo Emmanuel Adebiyi on behalf of the graduates, after a moment of silence and the National Anthem. The program continued with the speeches of Director of the School of Health Prof. Dr. Deniz Şelimen and EUL Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen.

Şelimen: “The nurse looks with her mind, feels with her heart, and keeps alive with her knowledge”

EUL Health School Director Prof. Dr. Deniz Şelimen, in her speech at the ceremony, said, “As in the whole world, we have all gone through a very difficult pandemic process for more than a year, and we are still going through it. The nursing profession, whose place and importance in health services has been emphasized repeatedly by all health disciplines and authorities during the pandemic period, is a profession that focuses directly on human health and improvement. Countries that want a healthy and high-quality future for their people give importance to nursing education. In this context, the European University of Lefke aims to raise graduates who will create healthy societies of the future and provides all opportunities for this to its students,” said She expressed his gratitude to Rector Prof. Dr.Mehmet Ali Yükselen and to all the academic and administrative staff who contributed to this painting. In the continuation of his speech, Şelimen addressed the graduate students; “Nursing is an art of helping: You must serve anyone who seeks your help without self-interest and without discrimination. Because healthcare is a human right. In war and natural disasters, and especially in intensive care, when people are on the border between life and death, you will always be there for them. Even in the most desperate situations, the light of compassion in your eyes should be their hope of life. In order to do these, you must use your science and creativity, and be disciplined and proactive professionals who can make quick but rational decisions. Because “the nurse looks with her mind, feels with her heart, keeps alive with her knowledge,” she said.

Yükselen: We will always be proud of the achievements of our students.

Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen, in his speech at the ceremony, stated that they were excited to be together with the students, whom they could not meet for a long time due to the pandemic, on the occasion of such a meaningful ceremony, and wished the pandemic process to return to the old normal as soon as possible. Stating that they personally witnessed that health professionals and nurses work selflessly for us during the pandemic process, Yükselen stated that they are proud to be together with well-equipped graduates who will serve the health sector on such an important day. While concluding his speech, Yükselen addressed the graduates and said, “I hope that your journey that you are just beginning will take place in a way that pleases you with happiness, health and job satisfaction. As you leave EUL, we will always be proud of your achievements and applaud you.”
