“Respect for the leaders who unfurled the flag of Turkish Cypriot Society” titled exhibition opened at EUL
European University of Lefke Faculty of Science and Literature opened an exhibition titled “Respect for the leaders who unfurled the flag of Turkish Cypriot Society” on the occasion of 36th anniversary of Dr. Fazıl Küçük’s death and 8th anniversary of R. Denktaş’s death.
In the first part of the exhibition which was opened at EUL Rauf Raif Denktaş Educational Complex at 9 o’clock, there are 41 photographs from the childhood of Rauf Raif Denktaş to the end of January 17, 2012, when he was sent off to eternity and 32 photographs which includes sequences from the life of Dr. Fazıl Küçük.
In his statement, The Chairperson of EUL Faculty of Science and Literature Department of History Assoc. Prof. Dr. İhsan Tayhani underlined that Dr. Fazil Kucuk and Rauf Raif Denktas, both, starting young ages, dedicated their lives to the struggle for independence of the Turkish Cypriots. He further said that Dr. Fazıl Küçük was 25 years old when he unfurled the flag of struggle against British Colony Administration and Denktaş, who made a speech at the first party rally on 28 November 1948, was 24 years old. Tayhani expressed his belief that the Turkish Cypriots will keep the memories of these two respected statesmen and two unforgettable leaders alive and will keep their legacy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus forever. He also expressed respect for the memories of both leaders on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community and the whole Turkish world, and wished them mercy from Allah.
The Photography Exhibition can be visited between 13-15 January 2020.
