Students of EUL First and Emergency Aid Department had the chance to practice
Students used their Theoretical Knowledge in a Natural Environment
Body and Performance Education course which is in the curriculum of European University of Lefke (EUL) Vocational School of Health Sciences Department of First and Emergency Aid was conducted in the forested lands of Bağlıköy.
Under the framework of the course which was leaded by academicians Assist. Prof. Dr. Suphi Türkmen and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hacer Gönül Demir, the aim was to enable students to perform the education they received in different environments and physical conditions.
In the course of the training, the students who had the opportunity to experience the knowledge they have learned in the classroom, laboratory and sports hall and to use all their knowledge in the natural environment, were taught to practice intervention and rescue techniques by protecting themselves and the needy in difficult conditions in nature. Apart from professional information, the importance of working as a team was emphasized and the students also performed emergency rescue simulations in teams.
Emergency rescue simulations were carried out in natural environments
Students who walk to Bağlıköy forest area from EUL with their instructors, made warm-up movements at the forest and get ready for all kinds of physical education and training. Scenarios were created with the first aid materials brought by the students after the preparation, and emergency relief simulations were carried out in natural environments such as hills, forests and terrain.
Course instructor Assist. Prof. Dr. Suphi Türkmen taught students how to use their bodies and powers correctly under different physical conditions and First and Emergency aid specialist Assist. Prof. Dr. Hacer Gönül Demir informed the students about first aid and patient handling techniques.
In the event which was multidisciplinary, students have had the opportunity to practice first aid techniques, physical education and team work together. Practical lessons and the organization of activities that provide socialization of the students are very important for the professional development and with the stimulation events they have the opportunity to experience their knowledge in real-life situations
