Support from EUL to MS Camp
The effect of exercise on immune system was examined in MS camp
“The 4th MS Camp” organized by the Turkish Cypriot Multiple Sclerosis Association in Lapta in October was supported by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation of the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Health Sciences once again. The camp, which aimed to support MS patients in social and rehabilitation terms, was held with the participation of 16 Association members and their families.
During the camp, the students of the Vocational School of Health Services of the European University of Lefke supported the members throughout the day, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Beliz Belgen Kaygısız provided training for the patients and their families.
It is important that all MS patients start rehabilitation program as soon as they are diagnosed.

Prof. Dr. Beliz Belgen Kaygısız informed the members about the benefits of exercise in her training on titled “The Importance of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in MS”. Kaygısız informed the members about what physiotherapy-rehabilitation programs should cover, the benefits of participation in physiotherapy, how often the programs should be arranged and why they were important. In the MS Camp, Kaygısız pointed out that recent studies have shown that exercise has a positive effect on the immune system, and added that it is extremely important that all MS patients begin a rehabilitation program as soon as they are diagnosed. Kaygısız also informed the members about the measures to be taken to combat fatigue in MS and measures to be taken to prevent falls.
Students from EUL, Vocational School of Health Services and Patient Care / Disabled Care Department were also there to support the members if needed.
