Within the scope of the 30th anniversary of EUL, it was aimed to increase the awareness of Architecture in the society and emphasize the importance of design.

Qualified design productions were exhibited at Nicosia Bedesten publicly under the framework of the event titled “EUL Architecture in 30 Years” which was organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Architecture. Within the scope of the event, it was aimed to increase the awareness of Architecture in the society and emphasize the importance of design in the 30th anniversary of EUL.

Successful architectural and interior architectural design projects designed in 2018-2019 academic year prepared under the curatorship of Assist. Prof. Dr. Erçim Uluğ and Assist. Prof. Dr. Nilay Bilsel, were exhibited in Bedesten and presented by the project owners. The exhibition consisting of 18 projects met the world of Architecture in the influential atmosphere of Bedesten.

Aras: As EUL Faculty of Architecture, we find ways to make a free, more original and more conscious designs every day over and over again.

Giving information about the event, Dean of EUL’s Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Lerzan Aras said that “As Lefke European University Faculty of Architecture, we find ways to make a free, more original and more conscious designs everyday over and over again. I have to say that every new path we find is a bit more exciting. In my opinion, design education is based on some master-apprentice relationship, some anxiety, seeing it right and thinking on it. Unless you are worried about how I can do better or make your student think in this direction, you remain stuck in patterns and ordinary thoughts”.    

Academician of EUL’s Faculty of Architecture Assist. Prof. Dr. Erçim Uluğ made some statements regarding the aim of the exhibition and said that “Labour and process are important in architecture. Qualified processes create qualified products. In our 30-year period, we have worked, produced and always created in the light of the values we believe to transfer the memory of EUL Architecture to future generations. Now we want to share our creations with the community, only then produced materials will achieve their purpose. In line with this goal, as the Faculty of Architecture of EUL, we aim to bring our people together with the space and traditionalize our qualified projects and share them with the society”.

Academician of EUL’s Faculty of Architecture Assist. Prof. Dr. Gözde Oral said that “As EUL Faculty of Architecture, we are aware that the profession of Architecture should act for the benefit of society. We continue our architectural education in a way to meet today’s needs of social potentials and culture. The activity we carry out in order to open up discussion of what we produce and reflect in terms of quality design products to the society is very important”.

Finally, academician of EUL’s Faculty of Architecture Assist. Prof. Dr. Nilay Bilsel said that “ With this activity, we enable our students to acquire the skills to present their architectural products to a wide audience and on the other hand we give them a chance to introduce their projects with the society. Students had the chance to share their designs with a third audience during the semester. With such activities, it is aimed to increase the students’ motivation and their commitment to the education process”.
